Dr. Brown’s, Apple Juice, Gas Drops… oh and a swing!

That is the recipe for sleep! 🙂 I hope! It was last night anyway. Claire seems to think that it’s completely appropriate to keep mommy up all night and then sleep like an angel all day. 😉 I like the angel part, but not so much the staying awake all night! The night before last, ya know after the “bad” day, I got perhaps an hour of sleep before 4am. Not all at once, mind you. And I have to confess that I’m not the pleasantest of people to be around when I’ve not had sleep. So, Claire and I weren’t getting along so well that night.

So I decided to get proactive the next day. I figured if the Dr. Brown’s bottle they were using in the hospital would help Gabby with not swallowing too much air, then maybe it would help Claire not swallow too much TOO! She doesn’t like to let those bubbles out when I try to burp her and that causes issues for her poor little tummy later.

I also got Gas Drops since that seemed to be an issue for discomfort as well.

And apple juice to help her poop. There ya go, all of your TMI for the day. 😉

I’m pretty convinced that Claire is going to be the “princess” as she just doesn’t like those bodily functions very much. 😉 Regardless it NEEDS to happen for us all to be happy and comfortable.

Also my sis-n-law texted me if I’d like to borrow her baby swing. For some reason it hadn’t crossed my mind to ask if they still had one, but all that long weary night I was thinking, “If I only had a swing!!” So I jumped on that too!

That was the recipe I opted to try and this was how it worked. Claire’s before bed feeding started off with 5mil of apple juice. Coincidence or not that girl produced a diaper within like 2 minutes of downing her juice. Okay, step one was going well! Then she had her bottle. Then I gave her some gas drops which she did NOT want to swallow, but sadly for her I have experience with 3 other little mouths and down it went! After that a little “play time” on the floor. It didn’t last long because she really wants to go to bed at that point. She ate again right before I went to bed, and got another dose of gas drops. After we slept for a couple hours she woke up for her midnight snack and this is the part where she seems to have difficulty going back to bed. Sure enough she got drowsy while having her meal, but not enough to really fall asleep. I let her lie on the bed for a bit and rocked her some. Eventually I figured out she wasn’t going for the more sleep thing, and I plunked her in the swing. I set it on the highest setting and let her “rock out” for awhile. It didn’t take long for those little eyes to close, actually. Then I just gradually decreased the swinging and once it stopped transferred her to her bed. It worked!!! Yay!!

She got up one other time to eat, but went to bed easily after that. I was still tired this morning from the night before, but was very thankful for a better night’s rest!

Yesterday was a better day anyway. I got our vehicle out of the shop and it was nice to drive it again! I spent some time with my mom and dad and we had Olive Garden lasagna for dinner, but ordered it “to go” so we didn’t have to actually fight the dinner crowd. Nice option!

Today was day two free of Bradys for Gabby! I’m to scared to get my hopes up but it’s still good progress. One day was the longest she’s gone before. Hopefully the pepcid is what’s doing the trick and she won’t have to have a swallow study on Monday, and will get to go home after Tuesday!!! Hope and pray that is the case anyway!

“The” bottle.

They both like to sleep on their side with their heads thrown WAY back.
