I’m saving the post I was going to do today for another day. It can “brew” a bit longer. 🙂 Today I want to say how thankful I am for MY valley. I can’t lie and say that I enjoy it, but I have to say, truthfully, that I’m thankful for it! Yesterday as I was going to see the girls, I passed a family in the NICU hall, holding each other and sobbing, and my heart cried with them. Last night I read a post about a precious family who had to let go of their months old baby, and how they and their older kids were saying goodbye, and my heart cried with them too. When Gabby was still in the NICU side the baby that was brought in next to her had Down’s and her parents stood there in tears and in shock because despite having all the tests they didn’t know and were not prepared, and my heart hurt for them.
And I’m so thankful that my “valley” is so shallow compared to some that others are walking through. I’m thankful that God is gently teaching me more about Himself though this time of waiting and frustration. I’m also thankful for all of you who have been through these valleys of your own, some much deeper than mine, who have sent encouraging words and scriptures and shared your own personal experiences and what God has done in your lives through it all! I can’t tell you how that blesses my heart! Thank you all SO much for caring enough about what we are dealing with that on the “rough” days you are willing to share your own experiences and the things that encouraged you through those times. Those are precious lessons and I’m humbled to get to learn along with you!
So today, even though there were more Bradys, and less enthusiastic feeding sessions, I’ve chosen to look at the positives and remind myself to be thankful, and I am!
Here are some of the plusses from today. Claire has been seriously chunkin’ up! The girl now weighs 5lb 6.5oz! She’s gained over a pound!! Way to eat, Honney-bunny! Gabby has also gained and is holding a .5oz lead on her sis at 5lb 7oz! Gabby’s NG tube has been removed, you’ll see her precious tube-free face in the photos. She was a little more “pooped out” about eating all of her feeds today though, so there IS the possibility that it could make a reappearance tomorrow. Lets hope she does okay with the rest of her mealtimes tonight! Claire still had her NG tube though they are discussing getting rid of it possibly tomorrow. She has decided that eating is fun, and even if she has to take a break in the middle, she’s doing much better about finishing her feeds!! At this rate, and with the Brady issue, Claire might actually get to go home before Gabby! That would be another whole challenge, so we’ll just wait to cross that bridge when we get there. 🙂 Keep praying!!
Here’s the sweethearts from today! I can’t help but take a zillion photos of them when I’m there!
