3 Little Seams

That’s all it took to get me hooked on sewing projects! 🙂

Maybe you remember last Christmas when I told you about my mom and Grandma giving me a sewing machine. I wanted it, I had asked for it, but I didn’t know I would stand in terror of the thing. 😉 Perhaps it’s because I had a few too many run-ins with my mom’s demon possessed machine or something, but I was reluctant to actually get the thing out and start sewing.

Fast forward to JULY! That’s right, the Christmas machine sat untouched till July when I rediscovered my “homemade gift list” that I had jotted down my thoughts for Christmas and birthday gifts on. It prompted me to visit my handy-dandy pinterest page and get er done! So I purchased some fabric while out shopping one day and then opened my sewing kit to find some lovely fabric scissors! Yay! And no, I won’t let them be used for school projects or kitchen task or office work, nopers!! I created my pattern pieces started chopping and stitched away!

Woo-Hoo! I was so thrilled with my “success” that I couldn’t wait to do more. I say success because I was able to sew 3 little straight seams! Ha ha!! Well straight might be an exaggeration, but they were mostly straight. 😉 That gave me enough of a confidence boost to actually attempt a zipper! I hadn’t originally planned to use one for the project, but really, it kinda needs one. So I had to wait till my next shopping trip to pick up a zipper and finish. I was happily surprised that I was able to switch to the zipper foot, install the zipper, oh and do a basting stitch too!! Sometimes it’s easy to impress myself, ha! So, the zipper part was easier than anticipated and while the outside isn’t “perfect” because I accidentally sewed a pucker into it, I still count it as a success! 🙂

I moved my craft table yesterday out of our ‘piano room’ because honestly I don’t like having all that stuff just out where anyone can see it all the time. So now it’s neatly tucked away, and I have space to work on projects without it causing major chaos. Here it is.

Isn’t that fabric pretty? I like it! I like the smell of new fabric and fabric stores. Don’t know why, I just do. 🙂 Doesn’t it make you wonder what I’m “creating?” Ha ha! Well that will be for another post. I’m still waiting on something to complete the project. This is one of the things that I will be “blessing” the children in my life with come Christmas time. So don’t spoil the surprise. 😉

Ta ta for now!
