Intermission

Due to an unfortunate event involving a chef’s knife and my pinkie (poor thing didn’t stand a chance) I will be taking a break from my story for a day or two…or three. Hopefully you will not have lost all interest by then. Im a pretty lousy one hand typer so I’ll just have to wait. *sigh* Remind me to send a memo to my reflexes that it is a VERY BAD idea to try to catch a falling knife!!! At least some of the watermellon was chopped before the tragedy, so I’m off to console myself with it. Later, Friends, but hopefully not too much later!!

Oh no! Hope you are okay! Sounds like something I would do!

It’ll be okay, I think. It was bleeding like crazy, but Stu “happened” to walk in less than a minute later! Try to tell me God doesn’t work in small ways! I wasn’t expecting him home till after school! Anyway it’s all wrapped up and I haven’t inspected too much, but I do know that knife sliced right through the nail like butter! And here I thought it wasn’t that sharp! Ha!

I have actually heard that the duller knives are the more dangerous ones and can cut you worse. Don’t know if that makes any sense or if it is true or not.

WHAT? Oh no! Are you ok? Anyway the nail patch with a tea bag can help? Just wondering. But it might be pretty painful depending on how deep it cut through the nail. Hope your nail heals quickly!

  5. Rachel says:

Kilika, I thought about your tea bag tip actually, but my nail was the least of the issues at that moment. The knife cut down about half way through my pinkie nail, but sliced a pretty big part of the finger tip too. I ended up using super glue to stick the flesh back together, and I also plastered it over my nail to keep it from splitting further or getting snagged. I may do a “tip” post about it myself, because it has worked great!! My finger looks pretty gross, but I’m totally sold on using super glue for minor wounds!! The pain associated with the healing is greatly reduced because there is no open edge, and the coating of glue makes it extremely usable, almost like an extra tough layer of skin. :-)
