Isn't it always something? That's good that he can't open doors - yet! Just wait till one morning you wake up to a cutie little face staring right at you saying, "Hi Mommy!" It is cute - except at 5 am! That is earliy! I am glad that my kids "sleep in" til at least 7:30 - usually. Leila will sleep til 9 most mornings! Hopefully you can get it squared away soon so Myles won't have too wear 6 layers of clothes to bed in the cold room - or you since he has the space heater! :-)

Yep, I thought it was pretty smart of Qade to figure out how to turn on his own light too. That's why I felt kind of bad for him when we fixed it so he couldn't. Qade has had a hard time w/ bed since we introduced him to his big-boy bed. Now that he can get out of it at will, and especially after he could climb in and out of the crib, he will play for a LONG time after we put him to bed if we don't intervene. But the crying and whining goes on as we're putting him down. The biggest problem with it all is that if Myles is trying to sleep in there as well he gets disturbed. Qade will wake him up as we're trying to put Qade to bed, and they will squeal and play. Then Myles gets all wound up, and we'll have to take him out till Qade is asleep. Then Qade wakes up at 5am or so and it all starts again. So it's been very frustrating. One good thing is that Qade can't open his door, but it doesn't stop him from bothering his brother or playing in there. Anyway, hopefully it'll all work out soon. It has gotten really old for us. :-) But it's encouraging that Liam worked through it and Eldan too. There is hope!

Okay - the using the book thing to turn on the light in absolutely ingenius! What a smart little guy you have! :-) I think I would have cracked up laughing, too to hear him try to turn on the light and find he couldn't! I know, probably cruel of me, but oh well! I was wondering - has Qade always had a hard time going down to sleep, or is this something newer as of recently? The reason I ask is because we went through that with Liam. He always went to bed just fine, until just around 2 years or so and he all of a sudden would cry and scream and keep getting out of bed and stuff. It was SO frustrating! But we were more determined than him, kept up our routine, and once we put him in bed, shut the door (which we always did) and not go back in. I can remember one night that I literally stood outside the door, holding it shut while he was trying to open it on the other side, screaming. He was just throwing a temper tantrum and I felt really sad about having to do it, but, after about a week of that, it worked and now we have been back to normal for a long time. (of course, there were some time-outs involved in all of that, too!)
I think it is another one of their phases that they go through. I remember, whenever we have an issue like that with Liam, I always ask my sis-in-law, Danielle, if they had it with Eldan - which usually they did!
Anyways, I was just curious! Hope he gets over this soon! :-)
