Baby Cereal, Mmm Good!

Well I’ve been putting off introducing the gals to cereal. I keep thinking that I have “extra” time for things since they were preemies and all. They however, don’t seem to realize or remember that they should be “behind” and so I finally caved in and got them some organic cereal before they drink us out of house and home with their formula! 🙂

Gabby has taken to it the best! She slurps it down and yes makes faces, but at least she’s swallowing most of it. Claire has the whole out-in thing going on with hers, but she still ends up swallowing some at least. 🙂

This is the hardest stage of feeding babies, I think. It’s always a guessing game of how much, how often, fitting food feedings in between bottle feedings, and fitting them in between feeding EVERYONE else as well. I find it the most stressful transition as far as feeding babies goes. Since this is 4&5 for me you’d think I’d remember better how it worked before, but surprisingly I just don’t. I do remember it being the difficult transition though. So there ya have it. Right now I’m offering the gals cereal before their last bottle in the evening, and today I started giving them some before their morning nap as well. We’ll see how that goes. I’m not going to dive in to fruit and veg purees any time real soon. Lets get the cereal thing going down well first. 🙂

Eww, Mom!

Ha ha!

Oh and a funny story about baby cereal: I’ve never been one of those mommies who will taste test baby food in any way. I just put it in and let them deal with the taste/texture all on their own. 😉 However, the other night when I first made up some cereal, the older three kids were very intrigued by it even asking how it tasted. So I let them, if they wanted, get a spoon and try some. Ella went first, and she didn’t seem too phased by it, which gave Myles courage to try it. He got a little on his spoon and took a bite. The next thing that happened was he GAGGED! Like big time gag! I was too busy laughing to ask him not to puke on the floor! Bad mom! Ha ha!! He didn’t though, so that was good! However, his reaction sealed the deal for Qade and he would not try it at all. 😉 Ella has since asked for it again… several times. Silly girl! 🙂
