Not Me Monday

2009
12.07

I did NOT let my boys wander around the house each with is very own (from his birth-day) bulb syringe hanging out of their mouth like a pipe. :-) Nope, not me! I wouldn’t have had those little snot suckers ‘tucked’ away in a very accessible drawer in the bathroom just waiting to be discovered and played with. And then when they were discovered I would not have allowed such play to continue simply to get a few minutes “peace and quiet” while they actually played nicely together. Ha! No. ;-)

I would NEVER even consider giving my 2 1/2 yr old coffee in HIS OWN MUG just so that he would stop lurking over mine! Ah ha ha ha! No, not me! :-D This totally cracks me up! I mean, he loves the stuff and it was only a tiny bit probably didn’t make up 2 tablespoonfuls all together. But what does that matter, I wouldn’t do that! ;-) And I wouldn’t get a kick out of how much this child loves coffee and how he talks about his chocolate milk being “Qade’s coffee.” Ha Ha, seriously it makes me laugh! Oh, I mean, NOT ME!!

I didn’t give my lads each their own beater to lick when I was making chocolate chip cookies! Yummers!! That’s one of the best parts about being a kid! But ya know, conscientious mommies don’t give their children such horrible stuff… I mean, it’s uncooked, and basically just butter and sugar mixed up. Gross. ;-) And even if I had given them the beaters to lick, I wouldn’t have snitched a lick myself before handing them over. NOT ME!

Wait a second…..

Guess I did. :-) Happy Monday!

Our Christmas Card Kaffafle

2009
12.03

I am SO on top of the Christmas thing this year! Seriously, I don’t think that I’ve ever felt this ready by the first week of December. (Thanks Amazon!!!) Of course that could all change very rapidly. Stu and I went over our schedule for the month and it’s looking very busy!! I do have several “ends” that do need to be tied up. Even so I’m going to bask in this “ready already” feeling, even if I’m technically not. ;-)

Kicking off my “readiness” was how I chose, put together and ordered our Christmas cards for this year. We decided to go the “easy” rout this time around and just do the simple Wal-mart photo greeting card. Last year Stu and I spent a combined 500 million hours creating our amazing Christmas letter, and quite frankly I’m still worn out from it. That’s why the “simple” idea seemed so perfect for us. However I used some of the pictures I myself personally took of the boys that I’m pretty proud of. I know I have a LOT to learn about photography and such, but I also know that I am improving, so that makes me feel good as well. Okay, so back to the story. I ordered our pics well in advance because I didn’t want to get backed up with Thanksgiving and all. They were to arrive at our local (45 miles away) Wal-Mart on or BEFORE Nov. 19. Well, that day came and went, and then I DID get caught up in Thanksgiving. My WHOLE family was together for the first time since I went off to college, yikes… I don’t like to think about how long ago that was because then I feel old, and mostly I don’t feel old, so I don’t want to feel old. :-D I avoid that old feeling as much as possible. But we all had a good time and Stu’s parents and grandparents were with us too, we just missed having his sis and her fam here! Well, after the turkey had settled we made it into town on Sunday for church and I figured it was as good a time as I’d get to check on the unaccounted for cards. Fast forward to an hour spent in the store being shuffled from department to wrong department, to waiting for “management” and you get me with a rather “arg” attitude and NO cards. Thankfully, I kept my cool, did explain the frustrating situation to the people involved in a nice way knowing that it was (probably) not specifically their fault. Then I took the number I was given to my oh-so-amazing-at-getting-great-deals, hubby. He called and talked to a couple people at the Walmart.com place and they were surprisingly helpful! They reordered our cards, gave us free to our home shipping, and cut us a 50% discount on our order. :-D Ahhhh… now that’s the old Wally-World I remember and love!

Today our cards arrived. They look great and at 50% off who’s gonna complain if the printing on my BEAUTIFUL photos seems a little dark. ;-) Just glad I lightened them in Aperture BEFORE I uploaded them to the site. There you have it! Be on the lookout for your very own installment of the ‘super easy’ (har har har) Christmas greeting card from we’uns. :-)
Ta ta!

Thanks for all of you who were in prayer for Stellan today! God heard, and answered our prayers in ways to astound us, as usual!! You have got to read McMamma’s blog post about it HERE. But I’ll just tell you that after LOTS of complications they were able to get into Stellan’s heart and COMPLETELY FIX his SVT!!!! Wow! God is SO good!! Just another reminder that He’s got the whole world in His hands!

Update

2009
11.09

Stellan is in surgery right now. HERE is McMamma’s update if you want details.

Pray for Stellan!!!

2009
11.09

I’m keeping up, as fast as I’m able, with Stellan’s situation. My heart just goes out to this family. It’s weird for me to feel such an emotional connection to people whom I have NEVER and probably won’t ever meet. Still, there baby is the age of mine and that’s a close enough connection I suppose.
Anyway, Stellan went into SVT this morning right after missing his meds, and then he crashed very fast after that. He was admitted and is on IV’s and intubated, but if you want all the details go HERE and read what McMamma wrote about it. All of that to say that they may very well be moving his surgery up to tonight or tomorrow morning. Please pray for the little guy, and his brave mommy. Also pray that his Dad will be able to find a flight to get him there before the surgery. I’m sure he really wants that.
This procedure is complicate for several reasons for little Stellan. McMamma has blogged about it, but I’ll just tell ya so you can pray specifically. This “wiring” issue in his heart is very close to his AV Node (and no I’m not medical in any way shape or form, but am learning a lot through Stellan’s experience) so if the AV Node is damaged during the ablation then Stellan will have to have open-heart surgery to put in a pace-maker. He’d then be dependent on that for the rest of his life. Also just because he is so small there’s a higher rick.
So that’s the latest I’ve heard. I know you all are praying along with me in this situation.

There’s another request that I became aware of today. It’s a long complicated story so I’ll do my best to make it short. A church that has sent teens to our camp was started about 2 and a half years ago by a guy I went to college with. They were headed for the mission field and had already raised support when their baby was born with a very rare condition. She was not expected to live long, but God has plans for this family. They started the church as a plant so that they could be in the states for the baby’s health care. They fully intended to go to the mission field once the little one had gone to heaven. She was quite the miracle baby though and trip after trip to the hospital she astounded doctors. The family finally decided that God really wanted them at this church, which has an amazing growth story for a baby church, wow!! So they changed “their” life plans, well God changed it for them. This past Saturday little 2 1/2 yr old Eliana went home to be with Jesus. I know the family and church family there will appreciate prayers for their hurting hearts at this time. Thank God for that little life who unknowingly was the means for a new ministry to begin and thrive! God can use the smallest among us!! It’s a good reminder.

Anyway, sorry for all the gloomy posts recently. I’ll try to find some very happy and exciting news to share. :-) Tomorrow I’ll write a post about some of the cuteness that has been going on in my family lately. I’ve been saving it up, but I believe it’s time for it. :-) Nigh-night!

Phantom

2009
11.06

Hi friends! Last night Stu and I got to see The Phantom of the Opera!! It was absolutely amazing!! I told him it was our best date ever! I know Phantom inside and out since I’ve been a fan since the sixth grade, but I was still surprised by the amazing stage effects! Wow! So yeah, if you ever have the opportunity to see it, do!! It’s spectacular! Ahhhhhh…… now I can die happy. ;-)
Today is going to be such a fun day! My inlaws are bringing down the boys and we’re all going to the zoo!!! I know Qade is going to love it, and I can’t wait to see the looks on his face when he gets to see the animals. He has been ‘reading’ a new favorite book about baby animals, and loves to point out the “Daddy Penguin” and the “Mommy Panda” and so on. One day when we got to the baby otter’s page with 2 otters wrestling he said one was “Qade Otter” and the other was “Myles Otter” Ha!! This kid cracks me up! But the zoo today is going to be awesome, and this zoo has been rated one of the top 5 zoo’s in the nation for kids! Yay!

Psssst….. I secretly love a zoo too! I admit it, I’m an animal lover too! :-)

So I will post pictures later! Hope you are all having just as amazing a weekend as we are!
Oh, and I think I was off a little bit about Stellan’s schedule. He is going into the Children’s hospital today, and they will then take him off his meds, and get him to go into SVT. The actual ablation will probably be in the next few days. Just keep the family in prayer. I’ll let you know when/if I hear any news about it.
Toodles!
