I also didn’t spend an hour looking through a bunch of random files trying to find it last night. Nope!

Okay, I did! I confess! I’m trying to schedule the lad’s days, mornings specifically, to help channel some of that spastic energy of theirs. Great idea to have little cards with pictures of their chores on them. GREAT idea if I could find the silly things! *sigh*

I did not forget to pack a lunch for my hubby last night before bed.

I also didn’t manage to get up early enough to do it for him this morning.

My hubby would NEVER have to go to work with no lunch. But he did have a good breakfast! Guess I’d better plan something substantial for dinner!

I did not go in to check on the lads before bed last night and find a sopping wet Myles. I would not have then just pulled off his jammies, put a new pull-up on him and just leave the wet bed till morning. Nopers!

(I did change the sheets this morning though, so that counts for something, right? )

I’ve got quite a bit of organizing to get done today, so I’d better stop reminiscing on the stuff I didn’t do. Toodles for today!

Sunday morning I packed up “spare” pants for both of the boys. Now that Myles is in pull-ups they don’t always hold as well as diapers. I did NOT neglect to pack an extra shirt though because it would NOT have NOT crossed my mind that if his pants got wet his shirt would too. I did NOT put him in a onsie either. Ha! Hey, he picked out his own shirt, I was just trying to hurry and get them dressed!

I did NOT leave the lads unsupervised while they were eating their lunch today and come back into the room to find that Qade had blown/spit little bits of oreo all over Myles and the surrounding wall. Myles did NOT look slightly like a Dalmatian with little flecks of black all over his face, hair and WHITE shirt. Oh no. I also did not make my almost 4 yr old clean off the wall with a washcloth after lunch.

When I was trying to “sell” some clients on a portrait session this week, I did NOT nearly choke on laughter because my wonderful hubby changed the baby, and I knew what kind of carnage he was dealing with! I would NEVER take advantage of any and all situations that get me out of changing a diaper, no way!

There’s also NO WAY I’d bundle my monkeys up and send them outside in the blowing wind and sand to “play” so that I could have some peace and quiet inside. Nah! It wasn’t that cold!

I did not send my hubby to work the last 2 work days with boiled eggs in his lunch because I’ve been to lazy busy to bake some bread for him. Nev-ah! Don’t worry, I made some today!

I have not been avoiding doing a “weigh-in” post because I seriously don’t want to work out. Nope!

Last night I tossed and turned trying to get to sleep. Why me?

When I finally did doze off, I dreamed of holding robbers at gun-point and racing like crazy around the country side “sleuthing.” Why me?

I was changing a “doozy” of a diaper on baby Ella and while I was working on the bottom end, I managed to get “eww” on a toy hanging on her play-mat. Gross! Why me?

I finally got the lads outside to play after the drama of finding socks/shoes/jackets and hats for the whole 2 of them, only to hear Qade’s hysterics less than 20 min later. Why me??

The hysterics, I found, were due to the fact that his “special ball” was “lost” in the tailpipe of our Envoy. WHY MEEEEEEEEE??????

I started whispering…. I’ll address the reason why in a future post. (why me?)

See, of all days for this ball to get lost in the tailpipe of our vehicle today was not it! We’re supposed to scoot to town as quick as we can after Stu gets off work to run some necessary errands. *why me?*

It’s my responsibility to get the kids loaded, and take the trash to the dump before we are overwhelmed with dirty diapers. BUT that was all thrown out the window the moment that amazing little plastic ball disappeared into the tail pipe. Why, oh why me?

I did the first thing that came to my mind, call Dad! Help, help, help, help, what in the world do I do???? Why me?

At Dad’s suggestion I found, quite possibly, the last wire hanger in our house and unbent it. Just to give it a slightly greater chance of success, I wrapped the ‘hook’ part with packing tape, sticky side out.

So to ease my troubled mind, and to get it off of my beloved curious son, THAT’S IT! NO MORE CURIOUS GEORGE FOR YOU GUYS!!!, I ranted to facebook land my woes. Whhhhhyyyyyyyyy meeeeeeee???

I had some sympathetic friends on facebook, one of which is my very own Aunt Dee Dee. Her advice was to suck the ball out with a vacuum hose! Wow, simply brilliant!!! And guess what? It worked!!!!! Yay me!!

All of that stress and drama, that really only lasted a little while, but left an indelible impression on my day, kept me thinking “why me?” That is until right before lunch when I was holding Ella. Her brothers were gathered round, because they just can’t stand to be far from her when she’s up. Suddenly she started to notice Qade’s silly antics and gurgling up from nowhere were the cutest little belly laughs ever! Qade was thrilled, so he kept up the entertainment, Ella kept laughing and laughing at him, and Myles and I joined in the laughter because we just couldn’t help it! Suddenly instead of finding myself asking “why me?” I was thinking, “it’s SOOO good to be me!”

I would not have at one point noticed that my youngest son was running around nude from the waist down.

Rather than putting his ‘stuff’ back on I would NOT have thought to myself, “Well, at least he’s outside if he sprinkles!” Ha ha ha!

I would not have noticed a strange squeaking noise a few minutes later and peer out the window thinking it was some strange bird.

Then I would not have had a freaked out revelation that it was NOT a bird but a baby rodent of some kind that my oldest child was swinging around by the tail!!!!!

I then did not totally freak out and start blathering incoherently to my Hubby who would NOT have been freaked out by the fact that all I could say was his and our son’s name and spin around in circles wringing my hands. (It’s good to know I can be so level headed in a crisis! Ha!)

It would not have taken nearly 12 hours for me to figure out that I could have calmly told my child, through the window screen, to put down the mouse and move away. But no, that would have had far too little drama for our family! Quite honestly the fact that the mouse was ALIVE and squeaking was probably what grossed me out the most. And just to finish out the story, we dragged the lads inside scrubbed their hands with HOT soapy water and stripped them down, well that wasn’t much for Myles. Qade told us he found the mouse in the grass and sure enough Stu found another one that the cat had dragged out from somewhere. Ugh! We informed the boys that mice are YUCKY and not to touch them, and later, just to be safe, they had a soapy bubble bath to play in instead!

Oh, and uh…. I did NOT have a pet mouse named Jeremy when I was younger that my MOM set free because she couldn’t stand the smell. To this day she denies it! Had he stuck around maybe I wouldn’t be so freaked out of mice now. Ha ha ha!!!!

I wouldn’t have been so tired from a LONG day in town that that particular dinner choice seemed not only reasonable, but life saving as well!

The reason that we had such a LONG day in town would not have been because I sat in a hospital bed hooked up to baby monitors for nearly 2 hours.

I would not have been in that hospital bed because I had my hubby drive me to the hospital just to “check” if things were progressing.

I did not “wonder” if things were progressing because I had been having mild contractions all morning long through church.

I do NOT have a phobia of my water breaking or something equally embarrassing happening in a public place like church or Wal-Mart!! That would put a damper on the worship service!!

After the aforementioned 2 hours in said hospital bed I would not have been informed by the very kind nurse that I was most likely dehydrated and need to drink a BUNCH of water, and that this was NOT the real deal.

I wouldn’t have been somewhat disappointed that it was not the real deal because among other reasons, there was NO ONE else on the L&D floor, and in fact they had to track down that nurse from somewhere else in the hospital to come “monitor” me.

And just FYI, really I’m not clueless about how the whole thing works, but each time it’s a different story. As one of the midwives told me I should probably head to the hospital when contractions were about 6 min apart since we do live a ways out. I figured since we were in town already I might as well stop by rather than risk going home and coming back. My parents are 3 hours away and they have to come watch the boys when it’s time for lil girl to show up because the lads aren’t allowed on the L&D part of the floor at all. SOOOOOOOOO…. just needed to make sure the main show wasn’t underway. *sigh*

My poor lads and their poor dad wouldn’t have had to sit in the vehicle in the hospital parking lot while I was sifting through a baby magazine in a climate controlled room sipping ice water. (To rehydrate of course)

We did NOT get home after 4 in the afternoon to just kind of crash out from exhaustion, oh and dehydration too of course! (Apparently I have a problem with this, but after all I don’t like to feel like a balloon all day and I don’t like spending a good 3rd of my day in the bathroom either! So there!!)

I did NOT just out of spite drink about a gallon of water and then sit like a lump in the easy chair, except when I had to get up for the bathroom….. which is about every 10 minutes, if I’m lucky!

The lads did NOT enjoy their cereal dinner so much that they even asked for seconds.

….. and of course I did NOT give it to them.

I did not give all four kids in my care a huge frozen “popsicle” of yogurt to drip all over their nice clothes one day just to be sure that if their hands and mouths were occupied, they wouldn’t be yelling and screaming for at least a little while. Oh, but I DID make sure they were outside while enjoying the treat!

I didn’t let my boys run around outside with no shoes just so they could climb UP the slide. And one said boys did not step on something pokey and get an owie right in the middle of his foot because he didn’t have shoes on. What mom would have her children shoeless in the desert??? Not me!

I did NOT purposely keep my lads awake on Sunday so that they would take a nap when we finally got home AFTER 4pm! I then did not let them sleep till 6pm and then force them to wake up. After that I would never have been irritated with them for being major grumpy pants. And of course, I myself wouldn’t have been equally as grumpy from being extra tired that day as well.

After the wacky day and even wackier sleep patterns I wouldn’t have insisted that they go to bed “on time” anyway. Never mind they’d only been up for an hour and a half or so. Neither would I have been surprised that they were still awake 2 hours later since they had such a late nap. I would however be happy that though awake they were at least in their own respective beds.

I did NOT just make sure things were okay in their room and hie myself to my own bed to “sleep off” a really bad headache.

I didn’t get said headache by sitting in a too hot room for 3 hours during the “shower” the ladies at the church gave.

I would not have tossed miserably all night long with said headache.

Oh, and I didn’t wake up with the headache still pounding away….

…. but I did take 2 extra strength Tylenol.

I also DID make a resolve to have a better day today even if the weekend was rather depressing, and even if I have to haul the lads with me to my Dr. appt today.

I DID NOT insist that we purchase an additional umbrella stroller so that I could keep at least ONE of the lads securely strapped down during the appointment today. I’m SURE ours is around her somewhere, but I can’t locate it, AT ALL. Those things don’t just roll away by themselves!! Someday I’ll find it and think, “Oh yeah, I put it HERE because I thought I’d remember.” So much for that!

I am NOT looking forward to the highlights of the day mainly being “outside play time” and “NAP!!!” I also am NOT completely thrilled that I have an excuse for an early nap time today since we have to leave for town early. Hee Hee Hee!!

I would NOT keep typing random stuff even though I hardly even know what I’m doing because of the pounding headache and sleep-deprived foggy mommy brain. Ahhhhhhh….. Thanks for loving me anyway!

Yesterday, Easter, I did not intentionally keep my potty training lad in ‘unders’ while we went to church. Keep in mind it’s a 40 min drive to town. Imagine the mommy’s pride in her amazing child prodigy when he managed not only to stay dry the entire drive, but also through Children’s Church! This same child, however, did not wet his pants only moments from our own home. *sigh*

Dispite the set back I did not just quickly change him into another pair of unders and fresh pants before we rushed over to Great-Grandpa’s 80th b-day party. I didn’t think (honestly) about the fact that this same potty training lad hadn’t had a BM in over a day. This child didn’t have such a good time running around with his cousins and Auntie and grandparents that he didn’t tell Mommy he needed to potty. Neither did he tell me when he did have an accident. Fun is just too much fun to stop for something like wet pants. I did not spot him walking around like a duck and figure out he had “peep” on his pants. Oh, and of course I didn’t check to make sure it was JUST “peep” either. I did not walk him down the long hall and across a big room looking for an available bathroom unknowingly spreading little “nuggets” that were working their way down his pant legs all over the house. Even when he looked down and said “Uh-oh, poop!” it did not occur to me that the little brown smashed thing on the carpet was actually doo-doo. It didn’t take me all the way till I was helping him out of his pants and a bunch of little “pebbles” went rolling all over the floor for me to actually understand what happened. It also didn’t take me so long to get things taken care of in the bathroom that by the time I came out to deal with the rest of the mess someone else had unknowingly picked up most of the pieces WITH THEIR BARE HANDS thinking it was candy that kids had dropped from the egg hunt. Oh dear! Gross!

Our potty trainee hasn’t been drinking as much as “normal” because of his training regimen, but I think I’ll be giving him more after this. The “gravel” that ended up everywhere convinced me that he could use more liquid. Today he is getting little sips of water whenever he asks for it. We’ll see how it goes.

Oh and one more. My lads did NOT go to bed late last night and then get up SUPER early this morning so that they were grouchy and irritable beyond belief by 9AM. Not my boys!!

I did NOT figure out that I have been cooking microwavable pot pies the wrong way till… now, because I didn’t read ALL the instructions on the back. Turns out they were missing nearly half the cooking time. Oops! Well, at least none of us ever got salmonella. Way to go Marrie Calanders!

I didn’t, wouldn’t ever consider, not in a million years announce to my family, friends, and the world at large on my blog that we are expecting our third baby! Course not, Myles did it!

So what have I been not up to this week?

Well, I did not allow my children to totally trash their room by dumping out EVERY toy container all over their floor. They also did not delve into other parts of the house where toys are kept and empty those toys into their fabulously tidy room as well. I then did not trick convince my helpful hubby to supervise the clean up with Monkey #1 while I gave Myles a bath. I’d never be that mean!
I did not move our poor “cold stricken” baby into our room so I wouldn’t have to trip up and down the stairs multiple times a night, and cause my poor husband to “move out” to the couch so he could actually get some rest. I then would not have blissfully stretched out in our bed and enjoy the extra space totally guilt free. (I’m convinced we need a bigger bed… don’t know why, neither of us has “grown” but the bed just seems to be not big enough for good sleep any more)
I did not put the empty box that Qade has claimed as his “car” in the garage to get it out of my way, only to fish it out again when Qade was frantically looking through the house for his “car.” Poor lad! Perhaps I should have stuck to my guns and told him the car was gone, but I just love his little imagination so much I couldn’t. Then while driving his “car” on the coffee table I did not neglect to make him stop and consequently he did not drive it right off the edge and crash. It wasn’t totaled though so all is well, and he hasn’t been driving on the table anymore.
I did not put one lad down for a nap, leave the other lad watching a movie, and go take a shower. I would not have desperately needed to do this because I honestly could not remember the last shower I had…. I know, yuck. I then would not have come back to the living room to discover my son had turned the movie off on his own and was having a grand old time playing with my computer mouse and keyboard. I also didn’t notice that he had somehow managed to rename a photo that was on the desktop. Whew! At least he didn’t delete the hard drive or something.

So there’s some of the stuff I’d never be doing, ever, never in a million years. Hope you all have had great “not me” weeks and this one is better still. If you’re interested in reading other people’s “not confessions” you can visit McMamma’s site. Ta ta!

This week we did not go away for some R&R and time with family and forget to turn the water off even though it’s be super-duper cold here recently.
Therefore we didn’t get home to find an indoor pool in our laundry room from a TEENY WEENY hole that sprouted in a tube.
Neither was I soooo thankful that my handy-dandy-mr-fix-it hubby of mine found the “issue” very shortly and fixed the problem so that we still had both water AND hot water.
Oh, and we did not leave our poor howling children stuck in their car seats after the long drive home so that we could clean out the lagoon without the help of little hands and feet.

At 3am I did not “cave in” and give my almost 15 month old a cup of milk to help him go back to sleep. Ha! Isn’t it great to be not the first child? With Qade I didn’t want to “develop a habit” of waking up for milk so if he woke up in the night I’d work with him, rock him some, and give him water. Now, I just want to get back to sleep as soon as possible myself so it works out to Myles’ advantage. Although, to be honest he rarely wakes up, but has this dreadful cold that is keeping us all hostage. So I gave him some Tylenol and a cup of milk to “wash it down.” It worked too and we all slept like the dead for the rest of the night.

Another thing I have NOT been doing recently is giving my toddler a “fruit snack” that he can take to his new tent to eat so that Hubby and I can watch at least a little of a movie/show without being interrupted. Ha ha ha ha!

So anyway, those are some things I’ve not been up to lately. Unfortunately something I am up to today is MASSIVE recovery. Ya know my new years resolution post? Well, I’ve yet to start those lofty goals (except for the PHOTO one) because we’ve been scampering about the country side. But I think we’re finally done with that and ready to get back to a “post-holiday” routine. Because of that I have about a ton an a half of laundry to do, and a LOT of reorganizing with all the new Christmas loot that needs an actual place. So here I go, diving in, elbows deep in dishes and stuff, but after this week we should be well on our way to normalcy. And once I can actually breathe again I’m going to start INSANITY!! Woo-Hoo! Stay tuned for THAT post… I’m sure it’ll be hysterical!
