Two Wittle Teefers

Well the long awaited teeth that Ella has been trying to sprout have finally “cut.” She’s been working on them for awhile now, so I guess it’s about time. Though I sure hate to see that gummy grin go! She seem too young for it yet. (sniff sniff) ;-) I know I’ll love the little toothsome grin just as much though!

It’s pretty hard to capture those teeny weeny teeth with a camera. Especially when two fists full of fingers and a little tongue are in the way! Here’s my best attempt. :-) Hurray for Ella and her milestones!

Potty training against my will

After the giant fiasco that has been potty training Qade, I’ve been less than enthusiastic about training Myles. I had determined that I would start around April-ish to introduce him to the concept really low-pressure like. I know that he likes to be a “big boy” so after Christmas I’d start letting him sit on the potty seat after changing his diaper before bed or before bath time.

Well, the lad has clearly decided that he should indeed be potty trained. I’m still reluctant, but he seems to be charging full steam ahead, so here we go!

Myles now INSISTS that he “needs to go potty” at every diaper change! He asks to go between times as well, and he is SO enthusiastic about it when he does manage to go. It’s hilarious to see his little face light up as he yells, “I go potty!” And of course he loves getting “nums” (m&m’s) for reward! Sometimes when he asks to go, or after a diaper change there’s nothing really “there” but he likes to stay on the pot till something happens. So I will sometimes leave him in there to do it himself since I don’t care for just sitting in the bathroom for long periods of time. The other day when I came back to check on him he had actually gone #2 in the pot!! I was so shocked! It took AGES to get Qade to do that, and here Myles was taking care of business all by himself! WOW!

The other night he asked to go about half an hour before I was going to be getting their PJ’s on so after he went I just put a pair of Qade’s unders on him instead of a new diaper. You should have seen that high stepping proud boy marching around the house in “his” unders. He was so thrilled with himself! Ha ha ha!! Amazing how a “small” thing can make such a big difference. He didn’t manage to keep them dry before I changed him into his diaper, but he was pretty amazed at himself for getting to wear them.

So I’m thinking that I’m going to have to just carpe diem with this whole potty training thing since he’s totally gung ho. I’m going to wait till next week at the earliest so that hopefully we’ll all be well(er) and can handle it better. Then I’ll just switch him over to unders and hope for the best. :-) Wish us luck!

Weigh in week 7

I lost 2 pounds again this week! As much as I would like to see a significant change like a 4 or 5 pound loss in one week, I know that slow and steady is really the way to take it off and keep it off. :-) I’ve read up on some of these quick lose diets, the cookie diet, ha ha! The grapefruit diet, the cabbage soup diet. They all promise quick weight loss, like 10 to 15 lbs in a week or 12 days! The thing is though, you just can’t lose fat that quickly, and the water weight will come right back on as soon as you’re not doing the “diet.” So I’m going to be content with seeing slow progress and just keep reminding myself that ultimately I’ll get to where I want to be!

Working out this week I did INSANITY Mon and Tues. I went for a 2 mile jog/walk on Wed and Thurs. My Thurs jog actually felt really good!! I kind of felt like I found my “groove” and just kept going. :-) However, Friday came along, actually Thurs night is when the coughing started getting bad and by the next morning I was out for the count. Ugh!! We’ve all been battling this plague or whatever it is. Qade’s been pretty lethargic, but is still handling it like a trooper. Ella’s temp was concerning us quite a bit for a little while, but she seems to be doing much better! Stu and I are slowly recovering, and hopefully with one more day of resting as much as possible we’ll have this thing licked. Myles hasn’t come down with it yet, and we’re hoping it stays that way.

So there’s not any working out happening this weekend, but maybe by Monday I’ll be back into the swing of things. I’m not going to push it though cause this illness is awful!

TTFN!

Sad Smoky

2011
01.27

This morning for breakfast I chopped up some lil’ smokies and added them to our scrambled eggs. The boys LOVE this breakfast option and they will pick all of the smokies out first because, of course, that’s the best part. After Qade had picked all of his out and was about to start in on the eggs he noticed one more little smoky and this is what he said:
“*gasp* Another smoky! This is a sad smoky because he lost all his friends.”
Me: “How did he lose his friends?”
“They went down in my tummy.”

A few moments later he unearthed yet another smoky and had about the same dialogue with it. :-) The things this lad comes up with just crack me up!! And it’s a good thing too, because they help to balance out the icky days like yesterday where he mostly just pushed buttons all day. :-)

Hope it makes you smile. It did me!

I’m going to risk jumping on the computer for a few minutes to bring you some cute photos I took of the lads yesterday. Our power has been wonky recently and I’m nervous that the computer will just spontaneously shut off, but here goes anyway.

Weigh-in week 6

2011
01.22

FINALLY!! I made it to the 25% mark that has been eluding me these past few weeks! Woo-Hoo!! Originally I had told myself that my “reward” for losing the first 10 pounds would be a new pair of runners, and I’d start jogging regularly. My shoes are pretty pathetic, and my feet hurt through the workouts. BUT our road is such slop right now that I couldn’t jog no matter what I had on my feet, and the shoes that I do want to get are a touch more pricey anyway. So I’ll make that my “prize” for the next 5 or 10 pounds!

So I lost 2 lbs this week. I didn’t do much to “earn” it I have to admit. I’ve been lazy about my workouts and looking for any and every excuse not to do them. I did INSANITY only once this week, and I road the bike once as well. I do want to see results, but I’m not enjoying these workouts at all. Still, there’s no excuse for it. I simply HAVE to do it. If I keep taking 6 weeks to lose 10 pounds then I won’t be in “shape” for the summer at all!

With that in mind I’m changing my workout time from afternoon to morning. I’m going to start trying to get it in around 10am while Ella is down for her morning nap. The lads are mostly good about staying out of my way when I’m working out, and if it’s a sunny warm-ish day I’ll have them playing outside at that time anyway. I think that this little change will make a big difference in whether or not I actually DO work out. Trying to get it in during nap, when that can be a volatile time of day anyhow, is not so ideal. I usually just want to kind of breath a bit once I get the kidos all down.

Another thing I’m starting this week, along with Stu is an Apple Cider Vinegar regimen. ;-) Should be interesting. Basically we’ll be drinking a tablespoon of vinegar w/ some water or juice to help with the flavor. You should look it up online! There’s tons of stuff that it’s helpful for and people have been using it for AGES! A friend of mine has successfully cured some food allergies in herself and her son by using it, and I’d say that’s pretty impressive. The advantages I’m looking for with it are continued weight loss and energy boost. We’ll see how it works out.

Ta ta for now!

Three at 4 months

Ha ha, originally I wrote “four at 4 months” by accident, oops! Yikes!

This is the latest installment of my three munchkins at the same age. It’s amazing to me how much they all look alike and yet how much to me they seem different. I’ve mentioned that we get asked if the boys are twins on a fairly regular basis. And people are frequently telling me how much they look alike and how they can’t tell them apart. Being their mom I can’t really see it. I see each of them as their own individual person, and their personalities, being so different make them look completely different. However, I can see enough similarities to understand why people who don’t know them well would think that they look so much alike. :-)

Fix-it-Friday

2011
01.21

Today I’m jumping back on the “fix-it” bandwagon. I want to do this each week just to get stronger in my editing skills. I think this weeks photo is SO cool! As I’m looking at Senior Portrait season in our area right now, this pic just screams “High School Guy!” ya know? What a great idea, and a good capture! Unfortunately as the photographer admits the lighting was going going by the time they took this shot, so it turned out a bit dark. (more…)
