Today has been wacky. I woke up late, well Myles and I slept in after his breakfast.
I love snoozing in the big bed with him in the mornings, there’s just something so cozy about it! Qade got up and knocked on his door a few times, but managed to occupy himself for the while that it took me to finally get up and get him. He was back in his big-boy bed for the 2nd night in a row and did stupendous. The first night, he knocked right after being put down, then when he realized that Mommy and Daddy weren’t going for that he would try to peek under the door, but we caught him there too. Ha! Later I walked in to find him playing with his Legos on the floor in the dark (how fun could that be?) but after I tucked him in again, he crashed, so he must have worn himself out. Last night we didn’t hear a peep till morning.
Anyway, today we were going about our normal routine, though I felt sleepy all day because it was cloudy. Then this afternoon while I was reading a novel, instead of doing something worth while, I glanced up at the window and saw HUGE snowflakes swirling down from the sky. Actually it was snowing SIDEWAYS! The wind had been raging all day, and now there was snow in the wind! It was too weird! It snowed for a little while even leaving some on the ground (patches) but nothing to serious. Funny thing for Arizona. ![]()
Myles is still his chilled out (lazy) self, and not working at all to roll over. He’s so completely unmotivated, and coming after having a driven child like Qade it’s quite a difference! He’s just so content to lie there and play with his toes, not concerned about getting mobile at all.
I know when he decides to do it that he will, it’s comical to me the differences in my boy’s personalities. Myles has stopped nipping!! He gave it a go a couple times, and then decided the trauma of being startled by Mommy when she was startled wasn’t worth it. So for now, it’s done, and I’m totally fine with that!
The ministry that we are involved in has been going through lots of change this year. I say that we’re in a state of “flux” and don’t know if that makes sense to anyone, but it captures how I feel sometimes. I’ve been struggling recently by getting bogged down in some of the details of these changes, and I really need to snap out of it and focus on what needs to get done for THIS summer. I need to think about the campers who are already planning their summer around camp. I want God to be able to use this ministry in their lives to make a lasting impact like camp did for me. I think “we” women tend to get more emotional about change and feel insecure when things don’t “seem” stable. So at least I’ve realized that I need to work on my personal take on things, and certainly to keep my focus where it needs to be. But you can pray for me and for camp if you think about it. That would be great!
Well, I have a little monkey who needs to go to bed, so I’d better do that before he really starts climbing the walls.
I hope you all have had a great week, and your weekend treats you even better! Ta for now.

Happy Birthday!
03.26
Today is the day I was going to get a new nephew. Josiah or Jo-Jo and Qade and I dubbed him. My Sis-in-Law Joy was 2 weeks overdue and we were all praying for the baby to come soon. Things worked out kind of different from planned, but today at 4am (ish) became the forever birthday of our newest family member. And in good ol Zahn surprise fashion our “Jo-Jo” ended up being Hellen Grace!!!
Yay! We have a girl baby now! I was thinking we would end up with all boys, but now the pressure is off, we have our little princes. (I have a feeling it’ll be all lads in our house!) James (my bro) has lost his heart, and is completely wrapped around those tiny fingers already. My other bro is in a fair way to be totally ga-ga as well. What is it about teeny-tiny girlies that does that? I was thinking about that today, and recalled to mind something that one of Stu’s professors had said about women being the “capstone” of creation. I think it must be true, if you only see a delivery room full of people turning to puddles over a scrap of feminine wiles.
So that’s my good news of the day, and I think it’s pretty awesome! Pray for my sis-in-law Joy as she recovers. It was a rough time for her, but she’s blissfully happy being a mommy! Hope you all are having a wonderful week! Ta.
Ahhhh Monday

For some reason it feels like a relief to get the weekend over with this go round. Strange feeling, probably because we’ve all been feeling cruddy, dunno. Qade seems to be feeling somewhat better, at least he’s not pushing on his ears. He HAS been very grumpy the last couple days though, dissolving into meltdowns at regular intervals. Hopefully today we can be a bit more “normal” and squelch that impulse somewhat. ![]()
Yesterday I felt like my eardrums were going to explode! It was not a fun day health wise, but we did have a good time at Stu’s grandparent’s church. Stu lead singing, while holding Qade. It was cute! I played piano, a stretch for me. I’m way too self conscious about things like that. I never learned hymn playing in all the years I took piano, even though that was mainly what I wanted to learn for. It’s hard to come by teachers who know how to do that let alone how to teach it. So I’ve tried to pick up some tips about it over the years on my own, but I still feel like a dancer with 2 left feet when I try. It was good for me to get out of my comfort zone though, and I messed up plenty, but the congregation seemed happy to actually have some “music” to go along with their singing. It ended up being a blessing to them, and I learned a big lesson. I’m going to practice much more though! ![]()
Myles has a lingering cough today. I think that we’re all on the mend, it’s just a matter of getting all the way better. However the biting has commenced with my Littlest Love. :-/ Not good! I know he doesn’t understand, poor boy, because it’s okay for him to chomp on everything else that makes it to his mouth. Mommy doesn’t appreciate it much though, so I’ve been giving him a very firm “Don’t bite!” and a little flick on his cheek. It startles him and he cries (makes me feel bad) but I have to help him learn that it’s not okay. If not, he’ll be switching to bottles full time very fast!
I’m thinking about putting Qade back into his big-boy bed tonight. If that goes well and continues to go well for about a week, and IF Myles keep sleeping as well as he’s done the past few days then I think that they will become roomies soon! The sooner the better, I keep thinking. Qade will have to get used to hearing someone stirring sometimes in his room at night, but that shouldn’t be too bad as Myles has been sleeping solidly through till 6 or 7ish. Here’s hoping!
Well, you all have a fantastic Monday!

Update

Qade convinced me that he NEEDED to go to the doc today so off we went and sure enough, he has his first ear infection. Poor lad! I had Myles checked too since he’s had a milder version of the same cold, but so far he’s good. Qade get’s to take his “med-is-sin” twice a day for 10 days and should be good to go. Hope it kicks in soon, I could use a few less grouch moments around here.
So that’s the scoop. Have a great Friday!
Sniff, sniff, cough, cough, waaaaa-chooooo!

Those are the sounds reverberating around our house the past few days. Ugh! We picked up a dreadful cold somewhere along the way, and shared it with little Aiden too, poor boy! Course how can you keep drooling toddlers from sharing germs?? Anyway, the boys have been somewhat miserable, and now their mommy is too! I have a sinus headache, and my nose is a constant drip, not that you needed that information.
I did learn this morning that hot oatmeal feels really good on a sore throat! Ha! Qade was a pretty sad case last night. I got him all ready for bed including putting vapor rub on his feet, because he insisted. It’s funny the things they remember! And he went to sleep easily enough, but woke up very upset an hour later. I rocked and rocked him, and finally gave him some motrin. I figure if he was aching like I was, he needed something for it. He eventually relaxed and slept fine the rest of the night. Littlest Love has been coughing some too, and I hate that! It’s so awful that there’s NOTHING we can give them for it. Argh! I’m trying to avoid taking the boys to the doc, because they’ll just say, “They have a cold, blah blah blah” but if they aren’t on the mend by tomorrow morning I probably will try to take them just so we can get em in before the weekend. I get concerned about ear infections and strep, because you just can’t know when they are this little. Fortunately neither of them has had either yet, so at least they’re not prone.
Okay enough of sickness talk. I’ve been trying to figure out how many words Qade knows. I’m up to 100 and still thinking of more. I was just curious so I started writing down the words he says, kinda fun! He’s getting better about communicating what he really means too. The other day he had a “yucky nose” and he was pointing up to the top of the fridge where we keep some kleenex and saying “nose” over and over. It’s great because it helps me meet his needs better when he can help me figure out what it is he’s asking for. Qade was so excited when his Daddy came home from work yesterday! We went to the door to meet him, and Qade was dancing a little jig and said “Hi, Daddy” as soon as the door opened.
Up till just a couple days ago Stu was always “Da-Da” even though we would say Daddy to him, now he seems to be switching it up. I’ve been ‘mommy’ for quite some time.
Myles is having a grand time chewing on his toes these days. It’s SO funny to watch babies do that! I can’t imagine being able to be bend like that, and I’m pretty flexible. His bottom 2 teeth are all the way through now and very cute!
He loves chewing on the teethers we have. It’s interesting because I could never get Qade to chew on those when he was teething, but Myles has it down! He’s still not into the rolling over thing yet. He’s done it once on his own, well will the help of the gym, but he doesn’t seem in too much of a hurry to roll away. He’s so much more “chilled” than Qade. Bubba worked and worked at getting mobile and Myles would much rather smile and watch everyone else move around.
Cute boys! It’s fun to see the difference in their personalities. I know they’ll be great pals! Qade has to give Myles a kiss before he goes to nap or night-night. Love it!
Well, one lad is blissfully snoozing, and the other is in hysterics, so I’d better put him down too before we’re all grumpy.
I know they need the extra sleep with not feeling good.. perhaps Mommy can get a nap in today as well. Ta ta for now friends. Check out the pics I posted on FB!

I was going to tell you about an experience that we had this evening BUT I don’t want anyone to barf all over their computer, so I’ll just say that it involved Myles, a LOT of wipes, a bath and a onesie that will never again see the light of day.
Toodles!

Happy Monday! I’m getting to this a little late so maybe it’ll be a Happy Tuesday for you.
We’ve had some interesting days round here! The boys have been under the weather, complete with cruddy cough for Qade. So Mommy has been trying to disinfect stuff and comfort little people as much as possible, but there’s only so much that you can do. They actually haven’t been too bad, but yesterday you could tell smiley Myles just wasn’t quite himself.
Today has been better though, and we even spent some time outside in the BEAUTIFUL sunny warm weather!
The boy’s cousin is here for a few days and it has been fun to watch them interact. Albeit they don’t always “play nice” but they are learning, and I think it’s good for them. Qade, since he’s been feeling icky, thinks that any time Aiden touches him, even to give him a toy, he should shriek as loud as possible and dissolve into tears and drool. (don’t know why those have to go together, must have something to do with his mouth as open as it can go- ha!) And they’ve both been learning how to “share” and play nicely. Aiden is learning how to be gentle around Myles and we mommies and Daddy are learning that kids sometimes just have to work it out, and sometimes need intervention.
Last night the cousins were both heading for a very early bed time due to massive amounts of meltdowns, but then, like magic, once they got their jammies on, they were the best of pals and played so nicely that they actually got to stay up late, because we adults were mesmerized by them, ha ha ha! This morning they were back “at it” but then when we were outside they played so well. It’s hard to figure out one year olds, I’m thinking.
Fortunately none of us are the “My kid is perfect, and your’s is the devil” type of parents so we’ve had a good time even if the monkeys have occasional issues. ![]()
Qade has been back in his crib the last couple nights. He fell out of his toddler bed (not a far fall, just so you won’t be nervous) but went right back to bed with the help of his Dad. However because he hasn’t been feeling well and coughing, consequently waking himself up, I thought it better to put him back in the crib than to have to fight that stay-in-bed battle at this point. The other evening after he had been put soundly to sleep we played a game at the diningroom table and may have been a bit loud, who us? Anyway, as the rest of us were preparing for sleep, I hear this knocking at Qade’s door. Sure enough there he was, sippy in hand, waiting to greet the day. Too bad he didn’t realize it was still 11 hours away.
He had even turned off his “noise” and his humidifier, things that he does after nap or in the morning. Funny funny boy. So that’s when he went back to the crib, without a fuss I might add. I think that I’ll stick him back in his bed once company is gone and we can be consistently on our routine.
Myles has been doing great, except for not feeling fun yesterday. He has 2 little teeth on bottom that he has been enjoying gnawing on things with. I think he’s still surprised when he hears a squeak out of a teether that he’s munching. It must be a strange sensation.
I put him in one of his 6 mo outfits last night (because Qade had emptied his drawer and I didn’t find them till bed time since he had tossed them all in the crib!) and I couldn’t get over what a big boy he’s getting to be! Of course the sleeper was too big on him, but he still looked very big in it. Sniff sniff! Teeth and big boy clothes, don’t know if I can take it! ![]()
Well, I’m pretty sure this has been one of my most rambly post ever, so I’ll stop before I start to loose readers.
Hope you are all having a wonderful day, and that your weather, if possible, can be as beautiful as ours! ta ta!

The Headache from…. well, nevermind
03.13
Hi friends! The last couple of days have been a blur to me. We woke up at 4am on Wednesday, with the help of Myles, and hit the road by 5:15. Stu was heading down to Phoenix on camp biz and we were all tagging along. However, due to strange circumstances we ended up going to his parent’s house first, ahhhh nice place to hang out. Then Stu was to go to the city and get stuff done while me and the lads hung out with the grandparents, Tiff and Aiden. Stu would come back for us when he had gathered all the craigslist stuff. It seemed like the perfect plan, but something went dreadfully wrong. My head was aching, not in an unusual way, from the early morning and drive and such, but I didn’t think too much of it at first. Unfortunately headaches have been a part of my life from a very early age. THIS one however proved to be of a different vein. It didn’t respond in the least to the extra strength Tylenol that I took and continued to get progressively worse as the hours went by. I tried just about everything that I’ve had success with in the past. At one point I was resting quietly for a bit, and it started to ease a little. BUT when you’re a mommy of two baby boys, it’s pretty much impossible to rest when they are not. Myles needed to eat so I was up again. It went downhill fast from there, and quiet honestly I can’t remember things well from it. I can say that I have not had a migraine that bad since I was pregnant with Qade. (Well, there was one this summer in Canada that was pretty close too..hmm) The distance between them doesn’t make up for their existence however. I’d much rather it hadn’t happened, and would be perfectly happy if it didn’t happen again. Anyway, during all of this Stu was driving all over Phoenix, but not as quickly as he anticipated, so it was going to end up very late before he was back. I was pretty desperate by the time he called at 6pm so I called him back in tears, as if that would help anything, poor guy. But I have to say that I have the best inlaws, and sis-in-law in the world! Tiff and Ina helped so much with the boys, and Duane pressed on my head to help the tension, it really helped too!! Wow! And to top it all off, they gave me their big comfy bed for the night and slept on an air mattress. I felt pretty guilty about that, but appreciated it more than words can say! Me and the lads all went to bed at 7 and I even fell asleep pretty fast. Stu ended up having to stay in the city overnight because he was totally wiped out. I wanted him with me so badly during the day, but his family took good care of me, and I felt so much better the next morning. If you’ve any experience with those headaches, you know that the next day you feel pretty wiped out too, but at least the unbearable pain is gone. Here’s a little perspective, I’ve had 2 babies, and would rather give birth ANY day than have a migraine!!! Ugh! But it’s over, and hopefully won’t be back for a LONG time, maybe never!
Hey I can hope, right?
Well, we’re home now, and all comfy to be back! Stu’s fam will be coming back this way on Saturday and I’ll hopefully be a little more human while they’re here! I’m planning on making those delicious cinnamon rolls for them while they’re here! Nummmmmmm-mmmmyyyyyyyy! Have a great weekend!
