Of those who say nothing, few are silent. – Thomas Neill

This quote just got me thinking… Thinking about my unspoken reactions and attitudes through my days. Often I say nothing, but my silence speaks very loudly. :-) I don’t think I always need to say what runs through my head, but many times I need to check my thoughts even if they don’t come out as words. They form my attitudes and shape my actions and responses to people in my life. Even if I don’t say the words the “feeling” can still be communicated. Then too, on the positive side, I should more often SPEAK the words that I think. Tell people how proud you are of them, say, “I love you” many times, praise people for the good work they do or their personal strengths. I’ve always been a people observer, and this quote just reminded me of people that I’ve observed and the way that even silently they can control and manipulate people. I too have a manipulative bent (okay, just being honest, none of you are perfect either- ha ha!) so maybe that’s why I can see it so well in others. All I know is that I do NOT want to be that person. The one who silently sulks to get their own way, or puts on that frosty air and snubs all attempts at peace until someone else caves. If I say nothing I want it to be because, out of love, I am biting my tongue and doing my utmost to change my attitude and give a little, regardless of the situation. So there’s my thoughts for the day; be careful what your silence says. :-)

A New Beginning

Tis the season for new year’s resolutions and new beginnings and such. I have some “resolutions” in my head for me. Don’t know if I’ll write them down or not. Last year I posted a blog about my weight loss goals and then got pregnant in Jan. :-) Ha! Hopefully it wasn’t related. Well the new beginning I’m talking about today is for me and Myles. This Monday we are starting the E.A.S.Y. routine. :-D It’s one that I got from the “baby whisperer” and I like it because she stresses that it’s NOT a schedule, and you shouldn’t be tied to a clock, but rather it’s a routine that you repeat over and over through the day with your baby. :-) The E. is for eat, the A. activity, S for sleep, and Y is YOU time. :-) Thinking back Myles has kinda been doing this on his own. He was such a sleeper for the first month of his life that I didn’t really think about it, but very recently he’s been having a harder time napping during the day. So mom is going to take charge of the routine and help him out a bit. We’ve been doing it for the last 2 days really, but tomorrow is when I tell myself we’ll “officially” start. :-)
Qade has been just simply adorable lately. He has some new words recently too. He now will say “Noggle” and it’s cute! He has NO idea what it means, but he can say it! I can’t get him to say his own name though! Oatmeal (his typical breakfast) is “Me-no.” And any drink in his sippy cup is “Mak.” We were working on saying “peach” last night at dinner, but it was coming out completely inappropriate for toddler language, so I think I’ll work on that one at a later time. ;-) He’s still such a Daddy mimic though, and they have this new game where they “sneak” around the house talking to each other in an excited hushed tone! Qade has quite the imagination too, because yesterday he came up to me with that very excited-something-is-happening-almost-whisper, and he was telling me all about it, but I didn’t have a clue what was going on, so I just pretended right along with him. He’s been having a ton of fun playing with the various toys that make noise that he got for Christmas. Plenty of “boy” tuff stuff. :-)
Right now Stu, his dad and Qade (of course) are fixing the facet in our kitchen. Qade mostly just moves the tools around, but he thinks he’s helping, and I know it thrills Grandpa to have him around. Well, hope you all have had a fabulous weekend. Shall catch ya later!

Happy Day-after-Christmas!

Hi Friends! Did you have a wonderful Holiday!!?! I hope you did, we certainly did! We slept in (great way to start Christmas!) then I made Monkey bread, which we ate with delight for breakfast, did the turkey and plunked him in the oven while Stu got ready for the day. By the time we got to the present opening part the morning was nearly gone! But we didn’t mind, it was oodles of fun! Qade had a blast passing out presents and opening a few himself. Some of his stuff required either mom or dad help, or assembly, so he got a little frustrated that he couldn’t play with all the wonderful things right away. THEN we came to his potato head. Oh the wonder of a million little pieces that can be arranged in so many extraordinary ways! :-D He loved it! That was the end of opening gifts for him, he was way to busy putting eyes, ears, feet and noses all over it. :-D But he also loved the little people school bus that his Oma sent him, and has been riding his wheely bug while pushing his Tonka truck all around the house. I think I’m going to put away his little “bike” that we got him for awhile, and then we’ll bring it out when we need something new to play with. It’s going to be an outside toy anyway. Myles had fun as well, for the part he was awake for anyway. :-) Qade has enjoyed playing with the toys he got more so far, but I’m sure in a couple months, Myles will be happy for all of his Christmas toys! Stuart surprised me with a lime green iPod shuffle!!! I had mentioned in passing once that it would be nice to have one for my walks or using the elliptical, but I didn’t expect it! Nice! I also got a really nice RED coat from my mom. :-) It’s very warm and I LOVE it! Stu cashed in with all kinds of toys actually. :-) He got some remote cars, and night vision goggles. :-) Plenty to keep him occupied. Well we didn’t actually get our white Christmas, but after the wind howled around the house like mad all night we woke up to a blanket of white! :-) yay!

Ahhhhh Monday (that was a happy sigh, in case you wondered)

Right now all of my menfolk are napping, and I have a cup of coffee and a homemade pecan turtle to keep me company. :-) Last night was a bit of a doozy. I just couldn’t go to sleep for some reason! Then once I finally did Myles was having some issues, so I was up with him at 1:30, 3, 3:45, and 5:50, ish. It was a long one, but then we both slept till nearly 9 after that so that was helpful. Stu is fighting something that is giving him a sore throat. He was up at 4 something to see his parents off, and then he got Qade up and breakfasted before I finally emerged. So to say the least we’re all dragging a bit this am. :-)
Still it’s a happy day. My bro and sis-in-law are coming to spend some quality time with we’uns and that’ll be fun! The weather is supposed to be wintery, which means we COULD have a white Christmas!! I hope!! Our house is slightly trashed at the moment, because we opened some of the loot that Grandma and Grandpa Noggle brought with them. Qade got a real metal Tonka truck and front end loader and he LOVED it right away!! So there are odds and ends that need to find new homes here. So I have some tidying up to do, but I’m going to enjoy my coffee in this quiet house while listening to Josh Groban croon Christmas songs before I do ANYTHING! :-)
I cut my own hair this morning. :-O Yes, It was being a trial and affliction to me. I went somewhere in Gallup and paid good money for someone else to cut it, and it looked just hidious! So today I decided that while I’m no beautitian, I could certainly clean up the mess that the other lady made. My whole goal was to get that side-swept fringe look. Anyway, I actually think that I DID improve things, but it’s still going to take some getting used to. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve had bangs, and the sensation of hair in my face tends to drive me batty!! :-) We’ll see how it works out. Have a fine Monday!

This morning I had to laugh at Qade. He has this new toy that he got from Grandparents Zahn which is a Wheely Bug! It’s hilarious to watch him zip around the house in it! But today he was wearing the little santa hat that is Grandma Noggle sent him and still in his jammies with a fruity cheerio stuck to his heiney! It was just a funny moment! ;-)
Lately he has been repeating all of our “no-no’s” to him. If he tries to touch something and we tell him no-no, he will then repeat “no-no” while pointing to whatever-it-is. It’s kind of funny in a way, because he uses such an authoritative voice when he says it.
Yesterday he was trying to learn the concept of “sunshine.” We were eating breakfast and he pointed to the window and said “light.” So I told him it was sunshine. He then pointed to the light on the ceiling and said, ’su-shine.” ha! Guess we’ll have to work on that one.
Well the piranha is squacking for some attention so I’ll leave my fine fans for now. Hope you are all having a swell weekend.

Fun with 2 little boys!

2008
12.18

Well mom and dad were here for a couple days to royally spoil the grandkids, and us! :-) They brought truffles, woo-hoo! Qade always has such a blast with “Ma-maw” and “Paw-poh” it’s hard to write it how he says it! Anyway it snowed really well on Monday and I was so excited to take Qade out to play in it the next day, but over night it turned to rain and melted away all the snow. So we stayed inside because it rained most of Tuesday too.. and playing in the sloppy mud is not as much fun when it’s really cold out. ;-)
Today we ran to town to get Myles 2 month pictures made. It’s kinda bad when you set a precedent for yourself with the first child and then feel you need to keep it with subsequent children. :-) But I think it’ll be worth it to have the memories years down the road. I mean they change soooo much that first year, and to have a portrait of that change each month will be great… provided I EVER get busy on their scrapbooks! *sigh* Anyway we had to use Wal-Mart, and those of you close to me know that I’m almost NEVER satisfied with their package options OR their photography, and the customer service nearly always stinks too, but today I’m pleased to say that it went well. The gal was nice, she was quick, and while I still don’t think the photography was the best or the options, I still managed to get a couple cute poses, (with some really cute grins!!) and get out of there without my blood pressure rising too much. ;-)
This evening, with they yucky weather, and a grumpy child, Stu decided I should hang out with the boys at home, so I’m “ditching” prayer meeting. But I got to cheer up the lad by playing tag with him, and had fun watching him play with Myles. This is what it consisted of: Qade placed a piece of paper on top of Myles in the bouncy seat. Myles would eventually flail an arm or leg, knocking the paper off. This would result in peals of laughter from Qade, and the process would repeat. After that got old Qade wadded up the paper and kept trying to stuff it in the seat beside his brother. I’m not sure what Myles thought of that part of the game. :-)
So anyway, it’s always exciting in our house. Hopefully you all are having a great week! I’m hoping for more snow actually. I’d love to have a white Christmas!!!

All Night!!!

Yep, you read it right! Little Myles boy slept all night last night! I had this “premonition” that it was going to be a bad night because he had a hard time settling. It was nearly 11pm before he finally went down for good, and still I had to put him in his car seat instead of his bed. Well several times last night I popped awake just “wondering” why I hadn’t heard from him. He was blissfully snoozing away not at all concerned about mommy. :-) Believe me, by 7am I was READY for him to be awake and have breakfast! So I finally broke the cardinal rule, “Never wake a sleeping baby” and got him up. I couldn’t believe how it turned around. Here I am waking him up to eat instead of him waking me. Ha ha ha!! Funny! But really I’m so psyched that he slept through the night, and am just hoping that this is the first in a long line of long nights. :-) I’m off to fix pancakes! Ta ta

I have a lot to do and yet…

…here I am doinking around on the computer. :-) Ha! What are lazy Monday mornings for after all? Stuart is home today and he is busily working on loading up wood so we’ll be cozy when the snow comes. It’s supposed to be here this afternoon, yay!! I want to watch Qade play in the snow! So anyway he is working hard, and I’m just doin’ nuthin’. I will get busy here before too long though I promise! My parents are on their way to visit and I need to do some serious getting the house ready before they arrive. So, having said that I’m now realizing how much I need to get done, starting with a very stinky little man, so I’ll go and get busy. Aren’t you proud of me? Ha!
