Slumber Parties and Kneecaps

2008

Last night Qade had a rough time.  That happens every now and then and I haven’t quite figured out what the ‘deal’ is other than the fact that I have bad nights sometimes too.  Most of the time if he wakes up screaming I’ll put him back to bed and see how that goes.  It didn’t go well last night.  If he wakes up more than once screaming at the top of his lungs I figure that something is “wrong.”  So last night Bubba and Mommy camped out in the spare room together again.  It’s easier than taking him to our room, because 2 in the bed is much easier than 3 in the bed. :-)   I have to admit though, in our “slumber” party, Qade got more slumber than mommy. :-)   I don’t mind it.  It’s just one way that he needs me, and because I know something is bothering him, tooth pain, bad dream, or just can’t sleep, and I know he can’t tell me about it, I want him to know that I’m still there for him when he needs me.  An occasional night’s sleep is not too much to give to my sweet boy.

Okay, so the kneecap thing.  I happened to notice recently that I’ve been getting little blue bruises on my knees!  I don’t recall smacking them on anything so I have to contribute it to crawling around on the floor when I’m playing with Qade.  Yep, I now understand why God doesn’t let babies get their kneecaps till they are of walking age.  It hurts to crawl on kneecaps!!  I was feeling Qade’s chubby legs the other day, and thinking of how all that padding is there for a reason.  Seems like a small thing, but It’s fun to see the “purpose” behind the way God has orchestrated our lives. There is NOTHING He didn’t think of and plan for.  It helps me to remember that if God is concerned about such things as baby kneecaps that I can know for sure he’s got the big stuff under control too! :-)

Hope you all are having a very fun weekend!

Lately

I haven’t been blogging this week, had you noticed?  I guess things were too busy or I was sleepy or something… hmmmm…. what in the world has been going on?  Well, Stu has been working like a maniac this week.  They had parent/teacher meetings so that always takes a bit more time.  I’ve been busy at home as usual with my 2 munchkins.  Sage is feeling much better although the poor boy is still on medication.  I really hope he can just get well.  His breathing still sounds rattley.  Personally, and I’m NOT a doctor so take what it’s worth, I think he’s got bad allergies or asthma.  He’s not been “clear” sounding since I’ve known him.

My mom and Dad came in on Monday and we had Steak and ‘taters for dinner.  Nummy!  There’s this great steak called Morton’s Tri-Tip and it is delicious!  Thank you Tyler Jones for telling us about it!  So the grandparents were here to spoil Mr. Qade all day on Tuesday, and he just ate it up of course. :-)   It’s fun when family comes to visit!

So here it is Valentine’s day… I had to call my best bud and wish her a “former singles awareness day” since that’s what we used to celebrate before we were both married. :-)   It was funny!  When we were in college, and even after, we would make it a tradition to wear black on V-day.  The funniest part was that we weren’t depressed, we were just as jolly and chipper as could be.  Fun memories, but Valentine’s is great now that I have my two guys to share it with.  It’s Qade’s first, and he doesn’t seem too impressed, but I’m sure one day he’ll at least love the candy part!

Toodles friends.  I shall post some pictures on here for your viewing pleasure and so you don’t get totally bored and never visit my blog again.  :-)

You and your honey

Hey all, I came across this really cool blog done by a lady with a lovely story!  If you need mom advice I’m sure she can help as she’s had 12 babies!!  What an accomplishment!  Anyway, I wanted to let you know that she’s having a book give-a-way that you can enter on her blog for the book “For Better, For Worse, For Keeps.”  It intrigued me just because of the recent “love languages” conference that me and Stuart went to.  One pice of advice he left us with was to go through at least 1 marriage book a year with your spouse.  Here’s an opportunity for you to try it.  At least look at the blog, it’s sure to touch your heart! There’s a link to it on my blogroll, it’s called Writing Canvas.

Yay Suns!!

We had a fabulous time at the game on Friday!!  I really like to watch basketball live, but I don’t particularly care to watch it on t.v.  The Suns won anyway, so that was heaps of fun!  It was a close game all the way to the end, and I was nervous that they wouldn’t pull it off after all, but they DID!  Yay!  It was a long night, we didn’t get back till midnight, but we had a great time!  Just me and my hubby!  We missed Qade, but we had a nice evening with just us!  Sleep has been a little on the short side this weekend however so I’m looking forward to getting home and into our regular routine.  Qade and I took a nap this afternoon and we both really needed it too!  Today we went out for breakfast with Stu’s parents and then Me, Qade and Grandma went shopping while the guys went to a Gun/Knife show.  Guess who spent more money? ;-)  I’ll just give you a hint… everything I bought was on clearance. :-)  It was a fun day anyway.  This evening we went to a fund raiser concert by the high school Jazz band.  It was pretty fun!  We had dinner there, and they did raffles and stuff, and they actually played really well!  I was concerned that Qade wouldn’t last, but he did great!  He must like jazz! We’ll be heading back home tomorrow afternoon.  I’ll be happy to sleep in my own bed.  Just for the record, I do NOT like sleep number beds.  They make my back and hips ache, and I’ve tried adjusting the numbers, but it doesn’t seem to help.  Just give me my old regular mattress and a cozy blanket and about 3 pillows and I’ll be happy. :-)  ha ha!

Suns Shine!

Hey all!  For Christmas I bought Stuart tickets to a Phoenix Suns game.  They just happen to be his most favorite team ever in the whole wide world.  So the game is on Friday and we’re heading down to Phoenix for it!  I’m not “wild” about basketball, but I like it for my hubby’s sake when the Suns are playing.  They have just recently acquired “Shaq.”  So we’ll see if he makes an appearance tomorrow!  That would be something!  Today we drove over to Stu’s parent’s place, and are camped out here.  Qade is going to get to spend his tomorrow afternoon and evening with Grandma and Grandpa!  Yay, fun!  I just hope he’ll go to bed easily for them.  He tends to have some issues when he’s not in his own room.  Which looks fabulous by the way, I’m sure he has much better dreams now. :-)   But yesterday he had a bit of a fever and today was warm still too, so I’m not sure what he’s fighting, but he seems mostly happy.

Well, hope you’re all planning a fun fun weekend, and pray that the Suns win tomorrow or my poor Stu will be SOOOO sad! :-)

Woo Hoo

Well, Stuart had 2 days off of school this week because of the beautiful SNOW!! Yay! We got at least 8 inches over Monday. So Stu and I rolled up our sleeves and got to work in Qade’s room! Sage wasn’t coming on Monday anyway, so that worked out perfectly. We managed to get all of the painting and “patchwork” done in the room! I’m thrilled! It looks fabulous and I will be posting pictures of the process imminently. :-) We still have “stuff” to do to get it complete, but the biggest part is done. We want to put a chair rail around the room where the 2 colors meet (actually there’s a white stripe where the tape was). Then I still need to hem the curtains so we can take down the ugly blinds. I know what I want for the walls though so we just need to get it and put it up. Should be good to go very soon. I’ll be making a trip to Hobby Lobby when I’m in Albuquerque soon. :-)

That’s the biggest thing that’s been going on. Because we were so busy working on Monday I didn’t make anything special for dinner, but we DID get pizza! Haven’t done that in a LONG time so it was fun fun fun! Today Sage did come, and the poor boy just can’t get well! He’s had several ear infections lately and now has this terrible sounding cough. Ugh! I wish he could just kick this stuff! He has always sounded congested to me for as long as I’ve watched him. One of his sisters has asthma pretty badly and I wonder if he doesn’t as well. Anyway, he fussed for awhile this morning, but slept for most of the afternoon. Qade has been behaving soooo well! He was extremely patient on Monday when Mommy and Daddy were so busy. What a trooper! He has decided that he loves to play with the cell phones! Ha! Only once when we put his grandma on speaker, he got a little freaked out and started crying. Poor guy, we were laughing though it was so funny!
We tried to go for a walk this afternoon. Got all bundled up, put Qade in the back pack, and about half way down our driveway I figured out that even though the sun had been shining, it was NOT warm out. The computer said it was like 26*, but we checked on the vehicle thing and it said 13*!! We thought we could make it part of the way, but realized that it was just too cold, and it wasn’t good for Qade to be out in it even though he seemed happy. So instead we piled into our 4 wheel drive and drove around in the snow! It was fun! We also took pics with our fun new camera. We’re having a blast with that thing! When we got home there was hot “hearty beef and barley” soup waiting for us! Mmm-mmmm good! And NO it was not campbells! ;-)

Better stop for now, just wanted to give you all a glimpse into what’s been going on in our little lives.

A Painting we will go

2008
02.03

Yep, yesterday it finally happened, we BEGAN to paint Qade’s room.  It’s going to be 2 toned, so of course it’ll take longer, but with my wonderfully hubby helping me (even though he hates to paint!) it went pretty fast.  It’s hard to paint around naptimes and meal times, but it worked out.  The “top half” is finished, yay!  This afternoon when Qade wakes up I’m going to apply some kind of texture stuff to the “patch” on the wall where we installed the baseboard heater.  THEN tomorrow Qade and I will wrap things up by painting the bottom half! :-)   That’s the plan anyway, hopefully it all works out!  I’m just dying to have it done!  Poor boy is 9 months and still doesn’t have a baby room. :-)   That’s okay though, he doesn’t seem to mind in the least and now we’ll just make it a “big boy” room.

Today it has been snowy some and WINDY!!  Wow has it been howling around the house.  It makes you feel cold to hear it blow like that…. methinks perhaps I need some more coffee “just because.”  No, we are not watching the Super Bowl today.  It wasn’t until sometime this week that I even knew it was in our state!!  I’m glad that we’re not an overly “sporty” family, and I’m also very glad that we don’t have T.V!  With as much time as we can waste on the computer, to have more media streaming into our lives would me we would never get anything done. :-)   But for those of you who are into it, I hope you have a grand time watching.  May the best team win.
